Remarkable Buffet At Renaissance Hotel Johor Bahru

With the opening of the year 2021, we had the chance to experience the buffet of Renaissance Hotel Johor Bahru after staying at home for almost 9 months. It has been a practice for the family to go out and makan (eat) outside as we celebrate special occasions.

Renaissance Hotel Johor Bahru is situated in Permas Jaya, Johor Bahru. It is approximately 10-15 minutes drive from the city center depending on the traffic condition. This hotel is known for wedding events, conferences, seminars, workshops, and special buffets for lunch and dinner during special occasions and long holidays of the year.

As I continue to personally uncover food places in Johor Bahru and other towns and cities in Peninsular Malaysia, let me share with you my food experiences at their Café BLD.  Jom with me as I uncover their prepared international buffet.

When it comes to the set up on the SOPs amid to the Government ruling in flattening the curve for Covid19 infections in the country, the hotel management was thus far following it. They required all their guests/ visitors to use a mask, undergo hand sanitization and temperature check before entering the premise.

They also have available free facemask for guests in case they don't have extra to use. Their team continuously reminds everyone to maintain social distancing.

As we (my family) entered their café for the buffet lunch, all guests were required to wear masks. They also provide everyone with disposable plastic gloves to ensure the hygiene of the food throughout the buffet time. Their staff was very in particular to their protocols which we found as a good move to protect the cleanliness of the dishes.

When it comes to the buffet preparation, the way it was arranged was fantastic. Their dishes were positioned in a very detailed way. The spacing from one dish to another was perfectly planned to maintain social distancing within the guests while scoping any of them. It was not actually crowded.

When it comes to food discoveries, the dishes that I remember during that buffet was their Oven Baked Chicken Rosemary Sauce, Pan Fried Seabass Dill Cream and their Japanese Sushi Rolls. All were set in a very appetizing presentation which makes the entire family fell in love with it. The taste was absolutely outstanding.

The café also prepared local cuisines. They have prepared quite a good number of dishes that will absolutely bring out the true identity of Malaysia when it comes to food. They have their own Lala Sambal, their own version of Ayam Nyonya, Sambal Sotong, and their Chicken Tikka.

They also have their Nasi Lemak Set with 'ikan bilis' and fried chicken-- it's up to you on whatever you want to choose. If you are a noodle lover, don’t worry, they have a noodle section to satisfy you with their different types of noodles and soup.

Dimsums are also available which makes you feel like you are in a Kopitiam trying to venture local Dimsums in Malaysia. Whoahhhh you will love it---I’m telling you.

When it comes to dessert, your tummy will be filled with lots and lots of sweets, chocolate cakes, desserts, fruits and etc. They are all placed in one section to satisfy you till the end. They also have 'Ais Kacang' which was really suitable at that point in time because it was a hot day.

In terms of the salt level of each of the dishes, I cannot give any comments on this. Each dish has its own story and way of preparation. They have their own taste to satisfy every guest.

Overall, I would say Renaissance Hotel Johor Bahru continues to amaze me with their fabulous and amazingly prepared dishes. I believe their kitchen management and their entire crew really deserved an appreciation for bringing a lovely buffet despite the restriction of this new normal.
