Exploring the Gateway To Island Hoping In Mersing

Today let me share with you my discoveries about the gateway to the beautiful islands of Johor. Let’s go Mersing. This destination is usually visited by tourist who wants to explore the beautiful island in Mersing for holidays.

THE TRIP:

Our journey from Johor Bahru to Mersing is via Causeway Link. The bus ride was about 2 hours. The journey was very straightforward. We parked our car at the Larkin Sentral bus terminal as early as 6:30 AM to catch the 7:00 AM bus schedule. The ticket is RM12.80 per one way.

Since we bought our tickets online, we exchange the bus tickets into a boarding pass for us to enter the terminal to get to pick up point of the bus.

The bus was spacious and it’s with good air-conditioning facilities. The bus has also its own compartment for our luggage—so it’s very convenient.

So the bus brought us straight to the drop off at the Ferry Terminal so we don’t need to walk for few more minutes. It's more convenient. Last time, they said that the bus parked at the terminal which requires you to walk for about 15 minutes to get to the Ferry Terminal.

ABOUT THE FERRY TICKETS

We bought our tickets there. Just like the bus terminal in JB, they have their counter to buy the ticket and exchange those ferry tickets into boarding pass that we showed to the ticketing inspector. It's very straightforward.

MERSING ADVENTURE

Mersing is a small town in Johor. It is one of the most visited towns in Johor by local and international tourists.  It is thus far said to be the most convenient location for Ferry Terminal to connects to the beautiful Islands of Johor such as Pulau Rawa and Pulao Tioman.

Since RMCO is still ongoing, only local tourists are allowed to travel. The country has not yet opened the border for international tourists.

Aside from the gateway to the Islands, Mersing has also something to offer. You can stroll over their murals at their town building and fishing boat along the coastal area.

Guest can also explore the hilltop Masjid Jamek Bandar Mosque which offers a panoramic view of the area.

After having been exposed for few hours under the sun, I would recommend you to take a rest for at least 30 minutes in their KFC there. We took our snacks there for little refreshments to energize ourselves before we head to the Hilltop area.

We also tried their Xiang Guo Bakery & Cake House which offers a decent spot for a meal such as pizza, Malay-style noodles, rice dishes, and many more. You can also try their coffee or something sweet such as tiramisu or rich cheesecake.

GOING BACK TO JOHOR BAHRU

We took the same bus to get back to Larkin Sentral Bus Terminal at 10:30 AM. The boarding process was very straightforward too and we reached Larkin Sentral at around 12:30 PM.
