MyBAS Johor Bahru Changed to BAS.MY Johor Bahru With Kad30 Hari from RM50 to RM30

JOHOR BAHRU, 3 November 2025:
The public transportation landscape in Johor Bahru is entering a new phase with the rebranding of myBAS Johor Bahru to BAS.MY Johor Bahru, under the Stage Bus Service Transformation (SBST) Programme initiative by the Ministry of Transport Malaysia (MOT) through the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) as the implementing agency.

This historic launch will be officiated by YB Anthony Loke Siew Fook, Minister of Transport Malaysia. His presence reflects the continuous commitment of the Ministry of Transport in strengthening public transportation networks and accessibility for the people of Johor.

The rebranding signifies a more modern, user-focused and sustainable transformation of the bus services that have been operating in Johor Bahru since its initial launch. The transition from myBAS Johor Bahru to BAS.MY Johor Bahru is in line with the national aspiration to modernise and standardise the branding of public transport for better recognition and higher service quality.

With these enhancements and new identity, BAS.MY Johor Bahru will introduce a vibrant bright pink bus livery representing energy, inclusivity and progress. The new livery not only stands out visually but also reinforces the presence of BAS.MY Johor Bahru across the city.

In conjunction with this launch, YB Anthony Loke Siew Fook also announced the revised subscription rate of the BAS.MY 30-Day Pass for Malaysian citizens aged 18 to 59, offering unlimited travel privileges for only RM30 compared to the previous RM50. This initiative is part of the government’s continuous efforts to ease financial burden while encouraging wider use of public transportation, especially among working adults.

In addition, free fares are provided for Persons with Disabilities (OKU), senior citizens and school students through the BAS.MY Concession Card — and this benefit has recently been extended to higher learning institution students as well.

“In a climate where the cost of living continues to rise, the Ministry is committed to supporting Malaysians by helping reduce daily expenses through initiatives such as the BAS.MY 30-Day Pass and BAS.MY Concession Card,” said YB Anthony Loke Siew Fook, Minister of Transport Malaysia.

To further encourage sustainable commuting, Handal Indah Sdn Bhd — the operator of BAS.MY Johor Bahru — has also introduced the “Park & Ride” initiative which allows passengers to park their vehicles at selected shopping malls such as Sutera Mall, Toppen Shopping Center, AEON Mall Bandar Dato’ Onn, Mid Valley Southkey, and B5 Johor Street Mall before continuing their journey using BAS.MY Johor Bahru buses.

This initiative aims to reduce traffic congestion in Johor Bahru city centre while offering commuters a more convenient and eco-friendly travel option.

Under the newly approved SBST Johor Bahru Contract by the Federal Government, the Johor public bus service will undergo a major transformation with an investment of RM134.9 million over two years (31 March 2025 – 30 March 2027).

Key service upgrades include:
• Addition of 34 new buses, increasing the total fleet to 162 units
• Route expansion from 18 to 21 routes, improving connectivity throughout Johor Bahru
• Increase in daily trips from 408 to 674 trips, nearly doubling service frequency

This upgrade is expected to benefit more than 43,000 passengers daily, reducing waiting time and improving commuter comfort — especially around Johor Bahru Sentral (JBS) and JB CIQ.
The new BAS.MY Johor Bahru buses will also play a key role in supporting the Visit Johor 2026 and Visit Malaysia 2026 tourism campaigns. The expanded bus network will provide seamless connectivity for both local and international tourists to key attractions, food destinations, shopping hubs and hotels in Johor — further strengthening Johor Bahru’s appeal as a major tourism destination.

“This enhanced bus service network not only benefits daily commuters but also supports the state’s tourism growth by providing reliable and accessible public transport,” added YB Anthony Loke Siew Fook.

The rebranding ceremony will also feature community engagement activities and service exhibitions, showcasing BAS.MY Johor Bahru’s commitment to continuously improving public transportation for all.

This new phase for Johor’s stage bus service reflects the shared vision between the Ministry of Transport, APAD, and the Johor State Government — to create a modern, efficient, and people-centric transportation ecosystem that supports sustainable growth and the well-being of the community.
