Today marks the beginning of the Ramadan period for our Muslim friends worldwide. So in regards to this month-long holy month, we were able to uncover the sumptuous Ramadan Buffet offerings of the newly-opened Sunway Hotel Big Box in Sunway City Iskandar Puteri, Johor.

Their Ramadan Buffet is dubbed as “Juadah Big Box” placed at their Pendas Café. This is their first Ramadan Buffet since its opening in Johor.  Their buffet feature over 300 classic Ramadan delicacies conceptualized by their newly installed Executive Chef Jamaluddin Sadikum (known as Chef Jamal) who has been in the industry for about 30 years. 

Chef Jamal with the support of his culinary team mentioned during the interview that live cooking stations will be installed around the area to assist diners to cook their dish on the spot.

Eight live cooking stations will be placed outside facing their infinity pool. Some spotted stations were their goreng section (frying section) where you can get a try of their durian goreng. You can also try their Asam Pedas being cooked in front of you according to your choice (of vegetables). Their grilling area offers roasted lamb called Kambing Golek Nabawi as well as satays.

Yong tau foo and braised noodles are also available at the braising station. The fried noodle station allows diners to create their own noodle dish with a selection of seafood and vegetables, while the chicken and duck rice stall serves up every Malaysian’s go-to dish.

Seafood on ice is also available for that seafood enthusiast with wide selections of sauces prepared by the Chef himself. You can also try his own version of Sambal Hijau which is said to be proven nice according to Chef.

Diners will also be delighted to find a selection of seafood dishes cooked to perfection in fragrant coconut milk such as sotong sumbat masak lemak selasih, ketam masak lemak nanas, as well as a classic favourite such as ikan patin masak tempoyak bertimum tua.

The dessert station offers a wide spread of home-made traditional kuih such as the kuih ondeh-ondeh, kuih keria, kuih gula hangus and kuih ketayap.

As perfect accompaniments to the Ramadan feast, diners will be spoiled for choice with a wide assortment of appetizers and salads, savories and pickles, and dressings and sambals will also be served every day.

The Juadah Big Box is available at Sunway Hotel Big Box’s Pendas Café from April 5 to April 28 from 6.30 pm to 10.30 pm daily and is priced at MYR128.00 nett per adult and MYR64.00 nett per child (aged 6 to 12 years). 

Early bird reservations are until April 4 2022 and will be at RM 108.00 nett per adult and MYR54.00 per child (aged 6 to 12 years).
