Causeway Link Cross-Border Buses To Be Cashless By June 1, 2022

Effective June 1, 2022, the popular yellow bus known as Causeway Link that crosses the border between Singapore and Malaysia via the Causeway will not be accepting cash payments inside their buses.

According to their social media page, they are now implementing cashless payment on all their cross-border buses between Singapore and Malaysia to make their boarding transaction smoother and faster to avoid long queues at their alighting platforms.

Accordingly, this is part of their cashless campaign as the border opens for daily commuters between two countries via the causeway. The cashless payment systems will be running in two phases.

The first phase will be implemented by June 1, 2022, for all their boarding transactions from Singapore to Malaysia. Phase two will take place on a later date for routes from Malaysia to Singapore.

Cashless Payment Options

1. Manjalink Cards. This is their official cashless payments card. Passengers need to tap the card at their bus tapping machines every time they board any causeway link buses from Singapore.

2. Nets. This card needs to tap at the tapping machine at their alighting stations in Singapore. This card is not accepted when used to tap inside the Causeway Link bus.

3. EZ Link. This will only apply to the stations inside before boarding the bus in Singapore. This card is not accepted when used to tap inside the Causeway Link bus.

What if I’m not a regular commuter, do I still need to pay cashless on the bus?

The answer is yes. Their cashless payment campaigns apply to all their passengers. If you are not a regular commuter or a tourist, you are highly recommended to buy a ManjaLink card to pay your bus fare.

This card also is accepted in most of the buses in Johor Bahur such as all the white buses named myBAS buses.

myBAS is a new bus service under teh initiative of the government to improve the transportation system in Johor Bahru.

Where can I buy ManjaLink card, EZ Link, or Nets?

ManjaLink Card or other cards such as EZ Link and Nets are available in Singapore. ManjaLink is available to all CausewayLlink counters in Johor Bahru, Johor Malaysia.
