Kids Bonding Johor Chapter Explores the Future of Public Transportation with Causeway Link

Johor Bahru, 9 May 2026 – Parents and children from Kids Bonding Johor Chapter recently had the opportunity to experience and learn more about public transportation through an educational community engagement programme organised by Handal Indah Sdn Bhd, the company behind the popular yellow bus brand Causeway Link.

The programme was part of Handal Indah’s ongoing community engagement initiative aimed at educating children and families about the importance and future of public transportation in today’s modern cities.

The event provided young participants with hands-on exposure to the fundamentals of public transportation and how it plays an important role in supporting sustainable urban mobility, especially in Johor where the demand for public transport continues to increase alongside rising fuel costs and global economic challenges.

The event featured various interactive activities involving parents, children, and the organisers from Causeway Link’s “Bringing Smiles to Life” initiative. The programme also received support from private sector partners including Old Chang Kee, who delighted participants by providing complimentary curry puffs during the event.

Participants were also given an exclusive tour around the company’s premises where they were introduced to various types of buses under the Causeway Link family. Among the highlights were the electric bus charging stations used for buses operating between Malaysia and Singapore, city buses, cross-border buses, the iconic pink BAS.MY Johor Bahru buses, as well as the company’s double-decker buses mainly used for express services.

Children were especially excited to discover the company’s latest premium buses, recognisable through their striking red and beige colours, which have become increasingly noticeable on the roads.

The event also saw enthusiastic participation from the children through various games and engagement activities organised throughout the programme. One of the key attractions was the special bus replica prizes prepared by Causeway Link, including miniature replicas of their iconic yellow buses together with replicas of the popular pink BAS.MY Johor Bahru buses.

The prizes created excitement among the children and further strengthened their interest and appreciation towards public transportation.

One of the most exciting parts of the programme was the educational session onboard the electric buses. Children were given the opportunity to experience riding on an electric bus while learning about the vehicle’s safety features, battery systems, and how the buses operate in real-life public transportation settings.

The organisers also introduced the children to cashless payment systems, allowing them to better understand how modern public transportation works in today’s digital era.

At the end of the session, participants including parents and senior citizens were also given the opportunity to register for the Kad Konsesi programme using their Malaysian Identification Card (IC).

The initiative allows eligible Malaysians to enjoy unlimited free rides on the BAS.MY Johor Bahru bus services, further encouraging the community to embrace public transportation as part of their daily lifestyle.

Many parents expressed their satisfaction and appreciation towards the programme, describing it as a meaningful educational experience for young minds. Beyond learning about transportation, the event also created memorable moments for the children, many of whom were thrilled by the opportunity to step inside the buses and imagine themselves becoming future bus captains.

The initiative reflects Causeway Link’s commitment towards community engagement, education, and inspiring the younger generation to appreciate the importance of public transportation in building a more connected and sustainable future.
