Inspired by this curiosity, we took the opportunity to delve deeper and get to know more about the man behind the menus, a chef whose vision and talents have helped shape Fraser Place Puteri Harbour into a distinctive food destination in Johor.
My first encounter with Chef Daniel Lowe was in 2021, during my coverage of the Hi-Tea Buffet at Fraser Place Puteri Harbour. Even then, his leadership was clear in introducing creative culinary offerings that were both visually stunning and delightfully flavorful.
Since then, I’ve had the pleasure of covering a variety of food events led by Chef Daniel, including the Ramadan Buffets and Chinese New Year festive highlights over the past three years.
What stood out throughout this time was his consistency, growth, and the clear culinary identity he brought to the property. It is something that truly sets Fraser Place apart from other dining venues especially along the Iskandar Puteri Zone of Johor.
One signature aspect of dining at Swatches Restaurant of Fraser Place is its Baba-Nyonya–inspired selections and local heritage dishes.
These flavors have become synonymous with the property’s identity, evoking nostalgia while delivering a modern twist that food lovers remember and return for.

Chef Daniel also achieved 3rd Place during the Fruit and Vegetable Day Culinary Competition in Malaysia; Competed in the Lam Soon Creative Culinary Challenges; Served as Invited Chef for the Swiss Club Singapore Oktober Feast which is an 8-day celebration of global cuisines; and played a leading role as Kitchen Manager during the Youth Olympic Games Singapore 2010.
Another milestone he had was when he led the catering operations for over 21,000 guests during the Sentosa Siloso Beach Party NYE 2015 and managed one of Malaysia's largest outdoor catering events at Hatten Hotel Melaka, serving over 1,500 pax.
On another note, Chef Daniel also represented Malaysia as a VVIP wedding chef in Mumbai (2019) and Kochi, India (2024). He was also part of the Singapore Street Food promotions in Budapest, Hungary (2024).
Here in Malaysia, he is also a member of the Penang Chefs Association, a strong testament to his recognition within Malaysia’s professional culinary landscape.
Beyond events, Chef Daniel was part of the pre-opening planning team for Fraser in Vietnam, showcasing his deep involvement in international F&B operations and hospitality development.
